The charmingly friendly community of Smyrna, Georgia, comes together several times a year for its lively and entertaining festivals. Whether you’re looking for delicious food from local eateries, handmade arts and crafts, live entertainment, or fun activities for the kids, Smyrna’s festivals have something for everyone in the family.

Jonquil Festivals

Held in both the spring and fall, the historical Jonquil Festival¬†features over 175 arts and crafts vendors, 15 food vendors, live entertainment, and a variety of children’s activities. Browse the beautiful work of skilled artisans from the Southeast and discover unique clothing, crafts, paintings, furniture, jewelry, and handmade delights of all kinds. Looking for an indulgent taste of classical festival foods? Jonquil Festival vendors offer cotton candy, snow cones, candy apples, corn dogs, hand-dipped ice cream, Polish sausages, chicken sandwiches, and Southern BBQ. Bring the little ones and play with sand art and inflatable activities in the huge children’s area. Jonquil Festival occurs on weekends in both late April and late October. Admission is free.

Taste of Smyrna

Every year on a Saturday in mid-September, Taste of Smyrna takes place on the beautiful Village Green in downtown Smyrna. The event is a celebration of Smyrna’s cuisine, a “Festival of Delectable,” featuring samples from dozens of Smyrna-area restaurants. Admission is free, and festivalgoers may purchase delicious samples from $1 to $4 each. Past years’ featured restaurants included Boneheads, Another Broken Egg, Atkins Park Tavern, Maggiano’s, Rodney’s Jamaican Soul Food, Williamson Bros. BBQ, Bruster’s Ice Cream, OY! Restaurant, Siam Square, and Meehan’s Public House, among many others. In addition to delectable treats guaranteed to please even the pickiest of palates, Taste of Smyrna features live music from local musicians from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Plus, kids will love the interactive inflatables in the Kids Zone, such as slides, a bounce house, a rock climbing wall, and the Euro Bungee Quad Jump. Taste of Smyrna is held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., although it’s recommended to arrive in the earlier part of the event, as samples may be limited.

Casper’s Friendly Fall Carnival

Harvest season has always been one of celebration, and for Smyrna residents, the tradition holds up! Casper’s Friendly Fall Carnival is a family-friendly gathering full of crafts, games, carnival activities, inflatables, hayrides, and much more for children up to 12 years old. Wear your favorite costume and bring the entire family for a day of friendly fall fun! Held every October, Casper’s Friendly Fall Carnival takes place around the fountain in front of the Smyrna Community Center and on the Veterans Memorial lawn. Admission is $10 per family for residents and $15 per family for non-residents.

To experience the vibrant pulse and warm community of Smyrna, attending a local festival is a must! Locals look forward to festivals each year as they watch their city come alive with family-friendly fun and treats for everyone. For those visiting from out of town, book a hotel in downtown Smyrna to enjoy a short walk to the festivals, but be sure to book early in advance as rooms fill fast during event periods.
